AUSTRALIA'S LEADING LEGAL TECHNOLOGY EVENT
It was way back in 2006 when Chilli IQ first developed the Lawtech Summit as they saw the need for a platform for the evolving legal technology market in Australia. It was new, fresh and created a buzz amongst the growing legal technology crowd but furthermore it created a community. It brought together legal IT Managers and everyone involved with the technology of a law firm in one place for the first time in Australia.
Fast forward to now and this community has grown and thrived. Through the last 15 years the Lawtech Summit has seen the evolution of legal technology managers go from just the IT guys to become an important part of the business strategy of law firms today.
We are proud to be an integral part of this ever evolving community and continue to offer a stage for thought leaders and ground breakers for the legal technology field.
ALWAYS FIRST... ALWAYS CHANGING....
THE LAWTECH ALLIANCE
The Lawtech Alliance was established to unite the legal IT community, offering peer support and the opportunity to network and learn from each other and from the expert panel of speakers invited each year to present at the Lawtech Summit. After over a decade of building the Lawtech community we at Chilli IQ are thrilled to see how it has evolved into Australia's leading peer networking organisation for the Australian legal landscape.

LAWTECH NOW, NEXT AND BEYOND
The ‘new’ new normal has struck and there is no denying that the global pandemic has created a necessary change, even for those reluctant to adapt to change, including the legal industry. Clients, in-house counsel and law firms are rapidly adapting at scale to new ways of working and the reality is that the practice of law will
never be the same on the other side of this crisis. The blockers or resistors of change have been silenced in only a matter of weeks. It is now a great time to reflect on the acceleration of recovery and the importance of not slipping back to old habits.
The new agile workforce has emerged and has had to ‘unlearn’ old strategies and adapt to a savvier new version.
The Lawtech Summit in 2022 will be celebrating its fifteenth year and it is with reverent honour that we present a conference programme that incorporates the transformation revolution that technology has brought to the legal sector. It will focus on the critical themes that have arisen from the new way of working post-pandemic and delve into emergent areas of significance.
The 2022 Lawtech theme focuses on the now, next and beyond of legal technology and will include topics that have surfaced during this peculiar year. Areas such as adaption to change; the importance of sustainability; wellbeing; technology deployment cycle and user experience; scenario planning and risk management. It will also include the importance of cybersecurity and the new challenges faced by a flexible workplace. The new technologies that are changing the way law firms are working with clients is another important topic and how the courts are also transforming to keep up with the change. The programme will be focusing on the positive implications of the pandemic and how we have become champions of embracing change to our best abilities - even though it was forced upon us.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
This year’s programme will be focusing on moving forward post- pandemic and the lessons learnt. The following themes will be discussed at the event:
Dealing with change: How we maintain the openness to change and not slip back to old habits.
Technology deployment cycle: environment and UX T
Technology implementation speed has been much higher in this current year and acceptance of new technology has been a main feature.
Cyber Security and the new challenges: what has changed and what still needs to be addressed
Legal Tech Updates: new rules - new tools
The 70-20-10 rule - how law firms and in-house team are creating tangible value through incremental innovation
The newly adaptive Lawyer and the new agile workforce: responding to the new changes
How lawyers can bridge the gap between technology and innovation
Remote Court Hearings and Online ADR Post Pandemic
The Future of AI & Work: Artificial intelligence offers considerable promise - the robots can perhaps take the sweat, and do all the dirty, dull and difficult jobs.. but: How do we ensure the future is bright? • How long do we even have before machines are as capable as us? • When they are, how can we be sure they’ll behave ethically and to our benefit?
Sustainability: where there has been positive environmental impact what can we learn from this and how can we apply it
Ad Hoc to Strategic Partner Business Relationship Management has always been an element of what we do in Technology but seeing it as a function and measuring maturity is not so common. Mark will explore what Baker McKenzie is doing in terms of IT Service Delivery and Business Relationship Management and draw some parallels with how Firms thing about their clients.
